RemiDocs

Chats, projects and documents

Start a chat, keep the work for one client or goal together in a project, and ask Remi about the files you add.

This page covers Remi on the web, at remiapp.ai.

Start a chat

  1. Select New chat at the top of the sidebar.
  2. Type in the Message Remi... box and press Enter.

Remi's answer appears under your message as it's written.

Check it worked: the chat is in the sidebar under Recent chats.

While Remi is working, you can send another message: Remi picks it up at its next step. To stop Remi, select the square stop button (Stop).

The model menu in the message box shows Remi Auto until you choose a model, and Remi picks the model for you. To use a particular model, choose it from that menu.

Add files to a chat

Drag files into the chat, or paste them. Or select the paperclip in the message box (Add attachment), then Upload from device or Choose from documents.

Remi reads PDFs, Word and Excel files, images, text and code. Each file can be up to 50 MB.

Find a chat

  • Recent chats in the sidebar lists your chats under Today, Yesterday, Previous 7 days and Previous 30 days, the most recent first.
  • Search everything, at the top of the sidebar, finds chats, projects, documents, tasks and workflows. To open it from anywhere, press ⌘K on a Mac, or Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux.

Rename or delete a chat

  1. In the sidebar, point at the chat and select ….
  2. Choose Rename or Delete.

Deleting a chat deletes all of its messages, and it can't be undone.

The same menu has Permissions: what you've allowed Remi to do in that chat without asking. Take back a permission explains it.

Try another direction

To take a conversation somewhere new without losing it, point at a message and select its branch icon, Branch from here. Remi opens a new chat that starts with a copy of the conversation. The original is unchanged.

Carry on from another device

Chats on the web, your phone and Remi Desktop share one list, so you can open a chat on any of them and carry on where you left off.

Sessions that work in a folder on your computer, in the Remi CLI or in Remi Desktop, aren't in that list. They stay in the app that runs them, and you can steer them from the web or your phone: see Pick up a folder session from another device.

Start a project

A project keeps the documents, facts and chats for one client, case or goal in one place.

  1. Select Projects in the sidebar, then New project.
  2. Give it a Name. Add a Description if you like, and a Deadline, or tick Ongoing (no end date).
  3. Choose its Visibility: Open, so all team members can see it, or Private, so only invited members can.
  4. Select Create.

Check it worked: the project opens, with the tabs Overview, Documents, Facts and Data.

You can also ask in a chat, for example "Create a project called Acme rebrand". Remi asks first, unless you've already allowed it in that chat.

Add documents and facts to a project

  • Documents tab: select Upload to add files to the project, or Link existing to add documents already in your workspace.
  • Facts tab: select Add fact, type it, and select Save. Remi uses a project's facts in chats about that project.

To work on a project in a chat, type # in the message box and pick the project, or select the folder button in the message box (Reference a project). Remi then knows which project you mean.

Share a project with your team

Project admins see a Settings tab on the project:

  1. Open the project and select Settings.
  2. Under Team, select Add team, and choose people from your account.

Visibility is on the same tab. A private project is only for the people on its team. An open project is visible to everyone in the workspace.

Add documents

  1. Select Documents in the sidebar.
  2. Select Upload and choose your files, or drag them onto the page.

Remi takes PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, text, code and image files, up to 50 MB each. Use Folder to group them.

Check it worked: select the document. In its details, Status reads Ready once Remi has read it.

Documents you upload are private until you share them. To share one with your workspace, select it, set its Visibility to Open, and select Confirm.

Ask Remi about your documents

Remi can search the documents you've added when it answers, and it cites its sources. To point it at particular documents:

  • One document: select it in Documents, then Chat about this document.
  • Several documents: select them in Documents, then Chat with these.
  • From a chat: select the paperclip (Add attachment), then Choose from documents.

Then ask, for example:

What does the Acme contract say about payment terms?
