Team roles

The four roles on a Remi account, what each one can do, what stays private whatever your role, and how to invite people, change a role or remove someone.

Everyone on a Remi account has one of four roles: Owner, Admin, Member or Viewer. Your role decides what you can manage on the account. It doesn't let anyone read your chats.

You'll find your team in Settings · Account › Team. Open the menu at the bottom of the sidebar, where your email is, to get there.

The four roles

RoleWho it's for
OwnerFull control of the account. The person who creates an account is its first owner, and an account can have more than one.
AdminRuns the account day to day: the team, the plan and billing, and which apps the team can use.
MemberUses Remi for their work: chats, documents, workspaces and projects. Everyone you invite joins as a member.
ViewerCan open what's shared with them in the account, but can't start a chat or add a document.

Connecting an app to your own Remi is personal, whatever your role. Connect apps covers it.

What stays private, whatever your role

  • Your chats are yours alone. Nobody else on the account can read them, owners and admins included.
  • Documents you upload are private until you share them. An owner or admin can still open a private document from its link, but it isn't listed in their Documents.
  • Your personal facts and your personal settings are yours alone. What Remi remembers has more about facts.
  • A private workspace is only for the people in it. Being an owner or admin doesn't let you see into one.

Invite someone

Owners and admins can invite people.

  1. Go to Settings · Account › Team and find Invite a teammate.
  2. Enter their email and select Send invite.

They join with the Member role, and you can change it once they've joined. An invitation lasts 7 days. Until it's accepted, it's listed under Pending invitations, where you can send it again or revoke it.

Change someone's role

  1. In Settings · Account › Team, find them under Team members.
  2. Select their role, then choose the new one.
  3. Check what the new role allows, then select Change role.

Owners can give anyone any role. Admins can change the role of Members and Viewers, to Member or Viewer. Nobody can change their own role, and the only owner of an account can't be given another role.

Hand over the account

There's no single step to hand over an account. Make the new person an Owner first, so the account has two. If you want to step down after that, ask them to change your role, because you can't change your own.

Remove someone

Owners and admins can remove people.

  1. In Settings · Account › Team, select the remove button next to the person.
  2. Select Remove to confirm.

They lose access to the account straight away. The person who created the account can't be removed.

You can't remove yourself. To leave an account, ask an owner or admin to remove you.

Roles in a project

A project has its own team, with two roles: admin and member.

  • Whoever creates a project is its admin. People added to it join as members.
  • Project admins, and the account's owners and admins, can change the project, archive it and choose who's on its team.
  • Everyone on the project can add tasks, documents and facts to it.
  • A project always keeps at least one admin.
